What Is Purchasing Power Parity, and Why Does It Affect Your Church's Software Price?

March 10, 2026 · 4 min read

If you've ever compared notes with a pastor in another country and noticed you're paying a different amount for the same GracePulse subscription, that's not a glitch — it's Purchasing Power Parity (PPP) pricing, and it's intentional.

The problem with one global price

A flat $14.99/month subscription is a rounding error for a church in a wealthy metro area, but the same number can represent a meaningful chunk of a smaller congregation's monthly budget elsewhere in the world. Charging everyone the identical dollar amount doesn't treat everyone equally — it just quietly prices out churches with less purchasing power while barely registering for the rest.

How PPP pricing works

Instead of one price for the whole world, we set pricing tiers based on the relative cost of living and purchasing power of the country a church is billed from. Nigeria and neighboring African countries are billed in Naira at a locally appropriate rate; the rest of the world is billed in USD. Your billing country is detected automatically at checkout — there's no form to fill out or discount code to request.

Why this matters for adoption, not just fairness

Software only helps a church if the church can actually afford to keep using it past the free trial. Pricing that reflects local economic reality means a tool built to help churches everywhere — including smaller congregations in emerging markets — is actually within reach, rather than being a product that quietly only works for wealthier regions.

What if the price still looks wrong?

Detection isn't perfect for every edge case — a church billing through an unusual payment method, for instance. If your price doesn't look right for your region, a quick message on WhatsApp or email gets it corrected manually. There's no automated dispute process to fight through.
